Iceland is a fabulous land of ice. Nature, attractions, dishes

Iceland is one of the cleanest and most beautiful countries in the world. This is not a typical tourist town: it is cool here in summer, and there are no severe frosts in winter. However, every year this state is visited by more and more tourists.
Foreigners from all over the world come to enjoy the natural beauty of the islands, because Iceland is an island nation, breathe fresh, clean air and take a break from the bustle of the city in peace and quiet.

It is impossible to get acquainted with the sights of Iceland in one day, as well as in a week, but you can see the maximum number of new places with the help of a rented car at one of the country's airports. For example, in Reykjavik you can rent a car from 20 euros per day, at Reykjavik airport from 19 euros per day.

The landscapes of Iceland are magnificent, somewhat reminiscent of fantastic: majestic mountains give way to crystal clear waterfalls, dense forests - relaxing meadows, streams and geysers, and then - glaciers and icebergs that look like frozen trolls. The nature of this country is something extraordinary, unique and mysterious.

The capital of this wonderful country - Reykjavik - is the northernmost capital in the world. This city with its narrow streets and colorful houses looks a bit like a toy. Although the main sights such as the National Museum of Iceland, the Cathedral, the Parliament, the Museum of Art and many others are located in the capital, lovers of vibrant nightlife will not be bored here. Reykjavik has many discos and nightclubs, bars and restaurants.

Iceland is a paradise for nature-loving tourists. The most important attraction that everyone should visit is the Golden Triangle. This is a kind of journey through three wonderful places in the "country of geysers". It includes the Gullfoss waterfall, the Haukadalur Geyser Valley and Thingvellir Park.

Gullfoss waterfall
is the king of waterfalls, if not in the world, then definitely in Iceland! Next to this huge cascading waterfall, a person looks very tiny. This picturesque place is especially beautiful in the rays of the setting sun, when the water turns into the murmur of golden streams and the music of calm, lulling water.
Two of Iceland's most famous geysers are located in the Høikadalur Valley of Geysers: the Great Geyser up to 60 meters high and Strokkur up to 20 meters high. Interestingly, it is in honor of the Great Geyser that all the hot fountains of the world are now called geysers.

In Thingvellir Park, an earthquake is considered a common occurrence. And this is not accidental, since there is a rupture of two tectonic plates: North American and Eurasian, which every person can see with his own eyes.
Iceland is also famous for its volcanoes, of which there are more than 140 on the island.

One of the most famous volcanoes is Hekla. This volcano is still considered active. One of the oldest Icelandic legends says that the souls of the dead entered Hell through its crater. This is a very majestic volcano about 1.5 meters high, which people from all over the world come to see.If we talk about traditional Icelandic dishes, then fish of different varieties and different cooking methods will certainly come out on top. Be sure to try the local herring, which is called "Icelandic gold", and hakarl - shark meat, which has an unusual and strange way of cooking. Stored in the ground for 2 months, then served in small pieces with Icelandic grappa.

Fans of fast food, especially McDonald's, will have to forget about this food for a while, as the last McDonald's restaurant in the country closed in 2008.Iceland is a beautiful country with beautiful landscapes. Every tourist who has been here brings with him a lava bracelet, Brennivin Icelandic potato vodka and vivid and unforgettable impressions.
