Travel to Manila

When in 1571 the Spanish conquistador Miguel Lopez de Legaspi appeared on the shores of Manila Bay, he decided to win back the land from Raja Suleiman and built Fort Santiago and his fortress, Intramuros, opposite the Muslim bamboo fortress. It was difficult for both leaders at that time to even imagine that in a few centuries a huge conglomeration of 18 cities would spread on this place, which would become the capital of the Philippines and be called "Manila".

For a comfortable trip, many tourists prefer to use car rental services in the Philippines. The average cost of renting a car at Manila Airport is 15 euros per day, in the center of Manila the cost of renting is the same as in the city, although it is usually cheaper to rent at the airport.

Miguel Laspi could not even dream that the fortress he built would be destroyed several times by bombardments during the First World War, and only then would it become the main historical landmark of the city. This example of colonial architecture attracts tourists all year round, because Manila is a city of endless summer. The temperature here always stays around the mark of + 26 degrees, and even in the winter season it never goes below + 20. Isn't this a paradise?

It would not be an exaggeration to say that Manila has absolutely everything for an unforgettable vacation. The metropolis is unusually colorful in every sense of the word due to the fact that it includes 18 completely different cities. Makati area is money, shopping and business. In shopping centers you can find all the famous brands in the world, and the prices for goods are advantageous compared to European ones. This business part of the city looks modern: wide avenues, glass skyscrapers, 13 piers and straight streets.

The multi-colored Chinatowns look completely different, decorated with all kinds of advertisements and signs for Chinese restaurants and handicraft shops. An unusual atmosphere reigns in the port area. Its reputation cannot be called spotless, but tourists are drawn to local entertainment venues and especially to the La Loma arena, where the famous cockfights are held.

More virtuous visitors to the city spend time in the "old town" area. It is there that all the historical sights of the city are concentrated, including Fort Intramuros, the heart of Manila. Not far from the fort are the Catholic Manila Cathedral, the Cathedral of St. Augustine and Rizal Park. By the way, on the territory of the park there is an orchid pavilion, a planetarium, as well as the National Museum of the Philippines and the Butterfly Park. In a word, there is something to do and what to photograph!

All the buildings of the archipelago can be seen very quickly if you visit the small village of Nayong Pilipino. This is an amazing outdoor exhibition of architectural miniatures. Also not far from Manila is one of the smallest volcanoes in the world - Taal.
Needless to say, the inhabitants of Manila, and indeed of the entire sunny archipelago, are extremely friendly and smiling people. After all, how could it be otherwise in a heavenly place?
