The Philippines, an archipelago country in Southeast Asia, offers a treasure trove of beauty waiting to be discovered. The Philippines is located along the Pacific Ring of Fire, so it’s no surprise that they experience a lot of earthquakes. The country is also the home to the world’s largest underground river, Puerto Princesa.

When in 1571 the Spanish conquistador Miguel Lopez de Legaspi appeared on the shores of Manila Bay, he decided to win back the land from Raja Suleiman and built Fort Santiago and his fortress, Intramuros, opposite the Muslim bamboo fortress. It was difficult for both leaders at that time to even imagine that in a few centuries a huge conglomeration of 18 cities would spread on this place, which would become the capital of the Philippines and be called "Manila".
