Magnificent Taj Mahal in India

The Monument Built for Love is the legacy that Mughal King Shah Jahan wanted to remind the world of his love when he built this masterpiece of architecture to house the grave of his young wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

Those who are used to traveling on their own and sightseeing without a guide and excursion groups can rent a car in India from a rental office and not depend on anyone. Renting a compact class car at New Delhi airport will cost an average of 12 euros per day, at Mumbai airport you can rent a car from 9.5 euros per day.

This is one of the main reasons why the Taj Mahal has gained worldwide popularity. This one of the most recognizable Indian monuments does not stand for leadership, power or wealth - instead, it symbolizes eternal love. As mentioned, the Taj Mahal was built as a mausoleum. Today it is not only a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but also one of the 8 man-made wonders of the world.

Often referred to simply as Taj, this architectural masterpiece is located in Agra, India. Fortunately, Agra is well connected to major cities in the country, including the capital, New Delhi. You can fly to Agra from Delhi or by bus or train. Attracting over 7 million visitors a year, the complex also includes a mosque, on the left; guest house on the right; a couple of small palace buildings, like a garden. The path leading to the mausoleum is beautifully decorated with fountains and a swimming pool.

Taj also delights with its impeccable geometric patterns and proportions that reflect the artistic and design principles of the Mughals. The building of the mausoleum itself is mostly made of soft but pure marble and adorned with semi-precious stones. Inside the mausoleum lies a domed hall that leads to the tomb of Mumtaz. The remains of Shah Jahan were also placed here after his death. This room exudes a perfect octagon shape. From the south entrance to the hall, you will find a staircase that leads down to the rectangular lower burial chamber, where the tombs of the king and queen are kept. The lower house is not accessible to the public. However. You can still admire the tranquility and quiet beauty that envelops the Taj Mahal.

Its design also allows it to emit different hues depending on the time of day. When you visit the complex in the morning, you will see radiation in a pinkish hue, all from the fact that it interacts with sunlight. But at night it glows bright white. During sunrise and sunset, the beauty of the Taj only increases. A lot of work has gone into the construction of this wonderful complex, and learning more about its history will allow you to truly appreciate this precious piece of architecture.

The peak season for visiting the Taj Mahal is October, November and February, mainly because they tend to be cooler than the rest. To get to the complex, you will need to walk from the parking lot or catch an electric bus. Please note that the monument will be closed on Fridays and children under the age of 15 can enjoy free admission.
