Renting Rates: Mercedes Vito in Tirana

When I first moved to Tirana I was confused by the rental rates in Tirana. I had the idea that Tirana is a place to rent for European tourists, but when I got there the real rental rates were pretty high for an American like me. But luckily I found a good Italian restaurant nearby which served good food and the rental rates were very reasonable so I could always afford to rent a car when I had to. However, it's still frustrating to me because the cost of transportation in Tirana is way more than in other cities in Italy.

I think the problem is that Tirana is a small city so everybody needs a car. And since Tirana is a tourist town you can expect that there won't be many rental services offering cars. So your options are limited and you end up either driving yourself or having to rely on the taxi service. This can be a hassle, especially if you have a business trip to make during the weekend because it will be difficult to get to your hotel if you had to use a taxi. On top of that Tirana is a place where people go for a relaxing holiday so having a car just makes sense.

There are several car rental companies in Tirana. I recommend Hertz rental because they are very trustworthy and their terms are fair which allows you to have a great deal. They are located near the airport so picking up a car at the airport can also be a convenient way to go. You can also rent a car from Avis, however, I don't recommend this since their terms are quite strict and I wouldn't want to spend half the week in Tirana waiting for a rental car. Luckily, there is another company called Sixt, they're based in Positano and their prices are reasonable, which allows you to rent a car on a weekly basis if needed. I would definitely recommend them when planning a vacation to Tirana, even though it might be a bit more expensive than Hertz and Avis.
